Slingshot Inc.
Limited-Edition Product LaunchSlingshot is a performance-focused workout brand known for strength training gear and accessories. To introduce a limited-edition product drop, the team set out to create a launch that felt culturally relevant and visually distinct from standard fitness gear.
I partnered with the product team to help finalize product designs and led the visual and creative execution of the launch across photography, web, and social.
Role: Product design collaboration, creative direction, photography, and marketing design
Scope: Product design support, pattern development, photography, web and social assets
● Case Study
Workout gear often leans heavily into minimal, utilitarian aesthetics, relying on black, blue, and performance-first visuals. For this limited run, the goal was to introduce a collection that felt more expressive and culture-forward, while still staying true to Slingshot’s performance roots.
The release included knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, a t-shirt, and a matching duffel bag, all designed to launch together as a cohesive drop. Once sold out, the products would not be restocked, making visual impact and memorability critical.
The Objective
● Case Study
The creative direction centered around a checker-inspired theme that referenced skate and street culture. The challenge was to evoke the familiarity of a well-known checker aesthetic without crossing into direct imitation or trademark infringement.
Rather than replicating an existing pattern, I worked with the product team to develop and source custom checker designs that captured the attitude and energy of skate culture in a way that felt original and distinctly Slingshot. The goal was recognition through vibe, not replication.
This approach allowed customers to make an immediate cultural connection while maintaining brand integrity and originality.
The Design
● Case Study
I collaborated closely with the product team to support final product design decisions and pattern execution across all items in the collection. Ensuring consistency across soft goods and accessories was key, as the collection needed to feel intentional whether pieces were worn individually or together.
The checker pattern served as the unifying element across the line, reinforcing the limited-edition nature of the drop and giving the collection a clear visual identity.

Photography and Creative Execution
I led and executed all photography for the launch, including both product-focused imagery for the website and lifestyle-driven photography for marketing and promotion.
The photography style was intentionally gritty, dusty, and slightly grungy to align with the skate-inspired aesthetic. To reinforce authenticity, we cast a bodybuilding model who was also comfortable on a skateboard, visually bridging strength training and street culture.
I handled all shooting and post-production, ensuring the imagery felt cohesive across platforms and assets.

The creative direction extended across every touchpoint of the launch:
Product photography for e-commerce
Lifestyle and promotional photography
Website headers and launch visuals
Social posts and paid social ads
This ensured the collection launched as a unified moment rather than a series of disconnected assets.
